Unit of Dwelling (UVI)

The Unit of Dwelling (UVI) is a unit of account created by the BCRA in 2016, with the same initial value as the UVA (1/1000 of the average residential construction cost per square meter, ≈ $14.05 ARS). Unlike the UVA, which tracks the Consumer Price Index, the UVI updates in line with the Construction Cost Index (ICC), reflecting changes in building material and labor costs. It was designed as the basis for social housing loans, where repayments adjust to construction costs rather than general inflation.
